  Gorgeous animation. Had moments that were very emotional and genuine. Other moments that felt odd (not in a good way) or forced.  I didn't know it was a musical going in, and all of the songs were pretty but not memorable. Overall, not a bad movie, it was certainly a different take on the folktale.

  Worth watching for the following reasons:
  - Tim Minchin's songs
  - a few well-filmed energetic dance sequences
  - Emma Thompson being ridiculous in the best way
  - Lashana Lynch being simply lovely
  Fans of the musical will notice missing songs, but the choice to cut those makes sense, particularly when trying to appeal to a young audience.
