  Still absolutely devastating. Sadness and horror. Sheryl Lee’s performance is one of the best ever put to film, and makes Laura Palmer not just the town fantasy/projection she is in Twin Peaks, but a fully fleshed out living breathing human being grappling with some of the worst pain you could imagine. And no one can save her. It would be unbearable to watch if not for David Lynch’s empathy and expertise in the medium, which comes through in every scene.
