Movies that spend time explaining the movie are so stupid. That narrative storytelling trope is played out and only really works in heist films. In modern day Clue remake for idiots this shit sucks.
I liked this film a lot, because it’s a realistic and accurate portrayal of being poor in America. The acting was great, especially from the lead kid, and the performance by Willem Dafoe was really well done. The ending was absolutely horrible and seemed so forced. Also, incredibly stupid to sacrifice a visually pleasing film like this by ending it with a minute long iPhone gimbal sequence. We get it, you can’t bring a camera crew into Disney world, but maybe that should’ve been reason enough not to end the film that way.
Pretty good movie, really liked how it was shot, and it’s nice that’s it’s all in chronological order — this is something that is missing in a lot of films today. There is no confusion as to when and where we are throughout the film, and adds to the documentary-esque style in which it’s shot.
Shia is great, all the other non-actors are great, and the storyline is fun and exciting. The lead girl was sort of boring if you ask me, and didn’t really reveal too much about her past/development.
