Anora 2024
Incredible opening and closing scenes!! Mikey Madison shines. It’s impressive how much you can learn about a character (Anora) without any background story. She portrays a very strong image but her vulnerabilities come to surface during interactions with Vanya and Ivan. It’s a tragicomic story that leaves you with the same “wow” you had when you saw the closing scene with Timothee Chalamet crying in Call Me By Your Name.

Matching the cinematography to the visual style of the ‘70s and ‘80s was very impressive, however the plot was disappointing. My expectations were this being a similar satirical drama like Succession but I guess it’s understandable given the time when this was released.
