it’s to The Departed what The Irishman is to the Goodfellas. In that it’s too long and I enjoyed it less. For a movie about a hacking butcher, it didn’t know how to cut the fat. Questionable casting choices. But Daniel Day-Lewis is great.

I’m not making a joke but the plot seems insensitive. This type of disorder can really irrevocably damage your quality of life. It’s played for laughs. But the jokes aren’t funny enough to merit themselves.
It has brief moments of quality but it loses itself in its own plot.

Direction, acting, editing, coloring, pacing, writing. everything you hope to have in a movie at high levels.
Entertaining comedy in a world where that feels uncommon. Prone to more than a few tropes but centered enough to have characters you can really root for. SZA surprises and Keke Palmer does a great job. Engaging camera work.
