Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me 1992
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I put off watching this film for some time, mainly because I wasn't certain if I'd be in the right headspace for it. To my surprise, it was a fairly straight-forward story of Laura Palmer's final days. (Straight-forward of course, provided you've watched all of Twin Peaks)
Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise give outstanding performances, both having their masks rise and fall throughout the film.
I have to wonder if the malevolent "Bob" is ultimately a weakness of this story. Is Leland truly guilty of his crimes? Or was it just "Bob" the whole time?

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- 2025
I really wish I had time to watch the original Gundam series or at least the movie trilogy before watching this. The opening act would have probably been more significant.
That said, it's a strong start to a TV series, and I found myself bouncing in my chair as the theme song kicked in and the GQuuuuuux powered up with Machu inside.

Oh my goodness I see why Saban edited half of this movie out when they made Digimon: The Movie. What could be a compelling mystery/road trip film is instead a poorly paced, oddly edited, and confusingly scored outing. What could be exciting fights are completely undercut with the strange choice of gentle xylophone music, harmonicas and acoustic guitars that lull you to sleep.
Thankfully this new release has the original Saban edit as well.
