Nosferatu 2024
9 • What a masterful reinvention of a classic and a strong contender for the best horror film I've ever seen. Robert Eggers proves yet again why he's the best horror director in modern years, perhaps of all time. Masterful direction, phenomenal pacing, gorgeous aesthetic, beautiful visuals, eerie as fuck, tense as hell and scary as shit, Nosferatu is a chilling, atmospheric powerhouse in which the cinematography is absolutely mesmerizing, every frame dripping with gothic dread and meticulous detail, with…

Full Metal Jacket 1987
8.5 • It's genuinely unbelievable how modern Kubrick's films look compared to its contemporaries, this man was a technical genius. The first half of the movie has become iconic in mainstream culture, and for good reason, it is absolutely phenomenal all around. The second half drops off a bit in quality, but the impressive technical quality of Kubrick's direction makes up for it. All in all, not amongst Kubrick's best, but a great film nonetheless, and a marvel to look at even when it's approaching its 40th anniversary.

9.5 • Went into a cinema re-run of this just for the hell of it without knowing the first thing about this film, and it's now probably my favourite coming-of-age drama ever.
It dabbles in such intense themes in such a subtle way, you can spend the entire movie without ever realizing them. On a surface level, it's mostly a heart-warming story about a single dad going on vacation with his daughter, filled with cutie-pie moments; and yet there is…
