All the Boys Love Mandy Lane 2006
follows the average slasher formula while trying to say something about the male-gaze, albeit not very greatly, and has an interesting twist that would’ve worked better had it come a little earlier. the titular mandy lane could’ve been a little more fleshed out and i wish they’d leaned more into the queer aspect of the film but it’s still a very well-shot and entertaining slasher flick! really loved the TEXAS CHAIN SAW-esque aesthetic

all of his works have shades of this but i looove how almodóvar mixes noir and sirkian melodrama in this one. surprisingly one of his sweetest too. and Yet another one where a crazy threesome would have solved everything.
