Hat tipped. Subverts nearly every western trope, does even more with its commentary, and has a killer soundtrack (That 2pac/James Brown mashup gets me hype EVERY single time without fail), definitely more unsettling on the big screen, but our discomfort is well payed for by the emotional impact of Django’s triumph and the bad-assery of the Foxx. Watched twice in a row. Ran is gorgeous. It’s truly a testament to the beauty and grandeur of Kurosawa’s films. Brilliant narrative, amazing visuals and outstanding performances all around!
