The Right Stuff 1983
Sam Shepard is the cool as ice modern day cowboy who lives outside of the law. He strides both horse and aircraft carving out his own mythology. He's as grand and as rooted as John Ford's monument valley and carries just as much visual weight on screen. A God framed against blood orange sunsets.
Oh and there's also 2 hours and 40 mins of space race stuff included too.

The New Land 1972
Taken as a whole The Emigrants and The New Land is a gargantuan 6 hour plus epic that never once foregoes character in favour of scale. The characters lives are displayed in full, in merciless detail, never once shying away from desperate truths or warm embraces.
All other epics slightly pale in comparison.

Pretty as a Picture: The Art of David Lynch 1997
David Lynch understood me before I understood myself. He showed me, through his work, the beautiful patterns of life, and darkness and light interchangeable.
With his images he reached into memories that were so close to being forgotten completely they felt like dreams, leaving me questioning did David Lynch just conjure them in the moment or did I live them?
He showed me that creativity is an endless pool if you're willing to go deep enough into the waters and not be afraid.
Tonight he is more alive than ever.
