The Fifth Element 1997
This is an insanely fun movie I remember well from my childhood. The production design, including the practical effects, costumes, and more, are exceptionally well done, helping the relatively convoluted plot mixed of ancient aliens, space magic, and mega corporations to be more bearable on screen. One thing that stands out to me this time around however is the perverted, infantile nature in which Milla Jovovich’s character is portrayed early on the film, before her subsequent sexualization by other characters.

Lady in the Water 2006
This movie features a unique plot and clear, intentional direction making it intriguing upon first look. Unfortunately the poor cgi and poorer writing makes the film suffer, ruining the immersion even with a notable performance from Paul Giamatti.

Modern Times 1936
One of my favorites of Chaplins films, Modern Times is a hilariously chaotic romp that gives a comedic nature to a terribly unfortunate situation. What stands out most to me in this film is the grandiose character of the set in all its timed stunts and gags, particularly within the mall and the factory.
