Anora 2024
Another day, another 9/10 film from Sean Baker. Possibly my favorite of his so far, and my favorite film of the year, I have to rewatch The Florida Project though. This was hilarious and lived up to the hype. Lots of small scenes like the drugs in the candy store (and the later candy store scene) and the vomiting in the car had me dying, but the whole plot itself was pretty hilarious. Omg and the court scene. Eventually it…

Challengers 2024
Finally got around to one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Once the three main characters met, I was so locked in. Just pure fun, beauty, charisma, all radiating from the screen. I had seen so many images and heard so much already online about the movie at this point, it definitely would’ve been better if I watched this right away in theaters, but oh well. Zendaya slays and so do the guys, the music pops off, editing is crazy, cinematography often really beautiful.

Conclave 2024
Met my expectations. Not as good as Berger’s last film, but really good for what it is. The editing is so strong and maybe my favorite part of the movie, it flows very well. Great cinematography too. The cast is notable, with Ralph Fiennes at the center giving one of his best performances. I liked John Lithgow, him getting exposed was a great scene. I really struggle to see why anyone would nominate Rossellini for supporting actress, she has nothing…

Barbie 2023
I ken not say this is my favorite movie of the year, but it’s amazing. Its also not as good as Gerwig’s previous films, but it’s still amazing. Margot is incredible and her dramatic moments make the film. The stuff with her in the real world and the mother and daughter is the heart of the movie. Gosling is great, no one else really stands out, but everyone is just perfect. Michael Cera’s character was fun. The craft here is…

Babylon 2022
Nearly a year ago I read the leaked original script for what was already my most anticipated movie. There weren’t many changes so I knew what I was about to watch, and Chazelle constantly brought the page to life better than I imagined. When Margot Robbie was dancing at the party like I legitimately had chills. And then the first day on set the hectic editing was so fucking amazing. The film kinda peaked there in the first half, but…
