I regret never having seen this when I was younger, but even now as an adult, I've fallen in love with it. It is so unbelievably charming, from the setting of an old decrepit European castle in the middle of a tropical island, to the heavily Bond-inspired soundtrack that consists of bongos and twangy guitars. It's almost everything I love about the '60s in an hour and a half, and it's become required viewing for Halloween.
Of all the Superman films, I think this is the most inspiring. This is the one that gives you the most to think about, and the one to look at when crafting a super hero movie. I mean every word of that. The definition of a masterpiece is "a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship." I was a little annoyed when I first tried watching this movie, but even still, it captured my attention for whatever reason. After watching it a few more times, I think I've come to understand what the film's about, and just what it's trying to get across, and I think it's a great analysis of art itself and how we use our imagination to create things to ignore the harshness of the world.
