  A Woman Is a Woman 1961

  The way this film was edited is like how I remember my dreams the next day—some of it makes sense, and some of it doesn’t. Godard’s jump cuts make even the simplest conversations feel off, like the characters can’t fully connect no matter how much they try. Sometimes it feels playful, like the film is in on the joke, but other times it just makes everything feel distant.

  oh, to be 13 again and suddenly aware of all my desires and flaws—the overwhelming reality of change and the longing to belong. this movie reshaped my memories of what being 13 was like, altered my perception of the american dream, and someone reiterated the change of relationship between my mom over the last 4 years so perfectly. i love cinema.
