Would’ve been a five star film minus the incredibly unsatisfying and logic-defying ending

I was never the biggest LZ fan but I absolutely loved this documentary- it is done very very well. The news clips of the respective eras give such welcome context to the time periods in question, a terrific narrative with all 4 members and their stories of youth and attachment to music was very interesting. The footage of their inspirations like Little Richard and James Brown were a joy to see. All of this just before my time - seeing and hearing what the music climate was like while this hard rock genre started up was terrific to see.

I walked out. Halfway through I walked out I couldn’t take it anymore. This is pretentious bullshit and Christopher Nolan sucks. I don’t give AF who I piss off. Yeah I’m reviewing a film I didn’t bother to finish. I should’ve gone to see Barbie.

I absolutely loved this movie. It was fairly straightforward and simple but the cast and locale brought this up to another level. The Lisbon city and area are tremendously displayed here and it’s a perfect backdrop to the story. It was wonderful seeing Yvonne Ferneaux (Marcelle’s girlfriend in La Dolce Vita) in a bigger role. Claude Rains, Ray Milland, and Maureen O’Hara all eat this movie up and are terrific together.
