A bit disappointing. Some fantastic actors not really allowed to shine. There is an obvious emphasis on the sexual attraction between the new couple, which helps to bring a modern feel. However, the flow of the film often gets lost. It feels like this has been over edited, over cut. Perhaps not, but there is a 'choppy' feel, without a clear flow of narrative. It doesn't build. Fine, but not great.

The way the tension is manipulated still feels so fresh and modern, the use of music and location is masterful. The characterisation is a lot more clumsy and less subtle than in marquee modern cinema, but the acting is fantastic despite this, completely selling the emotional shift for the final act. Deservedly still a classic
