The experience I had with this film was the same as "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind. It bewitched the audience, in this case, by erotic scenes of a young woman's discovery of her sex addiction and eventually love. The reason that I rate this film low is probably the same reason that makes many other appreciate it - the symbol of the alien and their languages. It's exactly the depiction of the Tralfamadorians in Kurt Vonnegut's classic 'Slaughterhouse-Five', albeit not reaching/developing more depth in its meaning.
