Watched this with my parents and they were hit by a bout of nostalgia. Sweet simple optimistic socialist cinema propogating that humans are inherently good.
P.S. So Srk always had his ticks and charisma.

I've a soft spot for some movies. Mainly because I grew up watching them as the cable didn't show anything else.
I re-watched Chamatkar after a long time and ahh the nostalgia hit me like a train. My first introduction to SRK and boy I loved him in this film. My younger self loved the antics of a good ghost trying to make everything right and gain his place in heaven. The chemistry between SRK and Naseeruddin sahab is amazing.
Chamatkar would always be one of my favourites.

This movie gets too real. Sometimes no one's really at fault, everyone's just trying the best they can in the given circumstances and shit still goes wrong.
The performances, the music ,the singing, the storytelling. Just Beautiful

Give yourself permission to watch this movie.

I just graduated and in this film, the protagonist is also a recent graduate unable to find a job. There was a dialogue about how it's 1968 and being a graduate isn't that big of a deal. I honestly didn't need that reality check.
I liked certain aesthetic choices that were taken in this film. For eg : choosing to shoot it in b/w.
The ending could've been a lot better. It was too "bollywood"(dramatic) for its own nature.
P.S. Pre-superstardom Rajesh Khanna is always interesting.
