  I can’t believe this movie is as well regarded as it is, all these years later. There’s so much to unpack here—a dissertation-worthy task honestly— but I’m not willing to tackle this incredibly sexist mess. Its portrayal of women is just awful. This is the type of movie that Laura Mulvey wrote about in Visual Pleasures and Narrative Cinema.
