It’s interesting to see a foreign-made zombie film that isn’t necessarily directly copying George A. Romero’s footsteps, but making its own way. It’s more of a response. And it does something Romero’s zombies don’t which is give a reason behind their rise and actions. That can be seen as either good or bad, but I think it works well with the plot.

This was one of the first few Giallo films I had seen when Joe Bob Briggs was presenting it. I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, but once I explored more Italian horror I came to enjoy Deep Red more.
