When I watched that Pauline Kael documentary the other day it included a summary of her Raising Kane essay in which at one point she argues a director’s vision and style is most apparent in his worst movies. It’s funny to reference this since I didn’t read the essay just merely watched a recounting of it. I kept thinking throughout this movie that no one else could’ve made or even dreamed it.
