hey, you know what isn't cool? depicting romani people as gold stealing, child kidnapping criminals, complete with the fortune teller stereotype and that aforementioned gold apparently having one of those much-feared romani curses. ooh, spooooky. but thank god the white pedophile is there to save the little girl from these evil people. hallelujah.
the movie otherwise is deeply uncomfortable and even good! but the thing with eli goes so far off the rails that it can never quite get back on track. if you want a movie that's similar and NOT fucking racist, watch the dark and the wicked or, i don't know, literally anything else.
