I genuinely forget what an incredible masterpiece this was. The first Scorsese I’ve ever seen (I even bought it on HD-DVD, where’s the time) and this is the first rewatch since.
Outstanding moviemaking from Scorsese, that made the most out of an bonkers cast. A very first watch of The Lord of the Rings, with the extended cut clocking in at around 200 minutes without the credits.
Grand in every way possible. Grand in its incredible setpieces and score, grand in its exposition and storytelling, and grand in taking its time whilst having a near perfect pacing.
