Gladiator 2 might be one of the most baffling and confusing films I've seen in a long time. Its production looks expensive and skillful at times yet lazy and amateurish at others. There is entertainment value to be found in some of the action scenes, but the writing is so abysmal that the movie crumbles under its own weight. Ridley Scott should seriously consider retirement.

I have to say, the movie's character work is rather strange, as some of its protagonists are nuanced and complex while others fall into the evil capitalist one dimensional stereotype. The epilogue also feels out of place and even detrimental to the rest of the film.
