I love imagining myself watching all the amazing films I'll actually never see from my long Watchlist.

Paris, Texas 1984
The last 30 minutes are genuinely the stuff dreams are made of. Dreams that are both so painful and yet so soft, tender even. The entire film feels like an entrancing, poignant dream. Upon rewatch, Paris, Texas has barely lost any luster from that incredible first watch.

Incendies 2010
Based on the acclaimed play by Lebanese-Canadian Wajdi Mouawad, the film Incendies is harsh, tense, riveting, and deeply tragic. The title of the American adaptation of Mouawad's play is a fitting description of this film: scorched. Denis Villenueve's stellar direction, Lubna Azabal's magnetic performance as the resilient Nawal, Monique Dartonne's brilliant editing, and Mouawad's story combine to create a captivating and astonishing film.

Paddington in Peru 2024
While it doesn't hit the same highs as the previous two entries, there is still a lot of silliness, delightful cleverness, and heart to be found here. I don't know what it is about this bear that warms me so. Every time Paddington wraps up these movies in a letter to his Aunt Lucy, I cannot help but be so softened and heartened by Ben Whishaw's vocal performance and the consistently stellar screenwriting.

Mickey 17 2025
Robert Pattinson and Naomi Ackie were wonderful leads in this. Bong Joon-ho's direction is great on technical level that lends extra oomph to the wackiness on screen. I vibed with tonal mix of dark, violent, abrasive, silly, comedic, gross, and sincere heart on display here. My major issues with film is that it does feel like the sections cut from the final edit would have made it more cohesive. Also the resolution section ran for too long and felt it a little too naive an ending for the dark world the story set up.
