Get Out 2017
serviceable horror, but ultimately pretty bland and stylistically flat. it does an oookkkk job of building uncomfortable atmosphere. the satire aspect is pretty patronizingly in-your-face, and the story is pretty creative but also kind of predictable. daniel kaluuya carries this movie with his performance, but i can't be confident that i'll be returning to this one

strangely my first robert eggers experience, but holy god what a masterful retelling of a very straightforward and familiar revenge story. definitely contender for best movie of the year
