Pretty strange movie in retrospect because, for the most part, this is a plodding tug of war between Willem Dafoe and a team of white supremacists (Featuring Brad Dourif but, more surprisingly, STEPHEN TOBOLOWSKY) but then the last like, 15 minutes, shifts to become damn near an ad for torture lol

Mickey 17 2025
Liked it well enough! Between Robert Pattinson giving a really solid performance, Toni Collette as a sauce-mongering fascist, cute creatures, and American / British Space "not-zis" there's enough here to justify watching it even though the through line of Mickey's development / what I assume must be "accepting" the Mickey 18 inside of himself is muddled and will often have you thinking "what just happened?"
Montage of Mickey casually going through Unit 731-esque "experiments" should've been a bigger part of the movie / at least not revealed in the trailer

Night and Fog 1956
"Even a road for cars and peasants and couples... even a resort village with marketplace and steeple... can lead to a concentration camp."
"'I am not responsible', says the kapo. 'I am not responsible', says the officer. 'I am not responsible'. Who is responsible then?"

Paris Is Burning 1990
Really dug this. Felt like watching your friends all on film and was about as great as that sounds. Incredible style too for a documentary which I wasn't expecting. The framing is always nuts and the interviews with Octavia and Venus in particular felt ethereal, stunned.
