I have only seen a few films by the prolific auteur Hong Sang-soo, but I've seen enough to confidently express my appreciation for the rhythm of his filmmaking. He is expert at conveying the contracting and expanding feeling of time through deceptively simple scenes and ordinary moments. In this way, his films serve as sort of cinematic antibodies against the mild cringe of fleeting and banal human interactions.

    Hundreds of Beavers

A collision of zany Looney Tunes-inspired antics, slapstick feats reminiscent of Buster Keaton, and an internal logic dialed into the mechanics of role-playing video games. A truly distinct effort with all the makings of a modern cult classic!

Best watched with a crowd, so come see it when we play it as part of DGC Video on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00PM
