Elephant 1989
Incredible anti narrative piece on the troubles. The way the killings become less shocking as the film progresses, and how the only piece of dialogue in the whole 38 minutes is just a normal conversation between some normal boys, and then an increasingly normal killing. The way the camera follows the killers so smoothly, a common specialty of the director in a lot of his films (trainspotting, christine) makes you feel like an accomplice, like YOU'RE part of the problem. I also don't know if the light flicking off during the gas station killing is intentional or not but I think its a brilliant addition regardless.
