There are a few things I might have a problem with in a less entertaining movie (that Topher Grace twist is kind of dumb, and everyone seems way too chill about everything), but I love that it’s just a back to basics Predator flick set in a jungle. I would really like to know how they got a cast like this three years after Requiem though. At least Mahershala Ali and Walton Goggins weren’t exactly recognizable yet, but Adrien Brody was coming off of a relatively recent Best Actor win.

-The soldier and her daughter have to be some of the most pointless characters I’ve ever seen in a movie. It’s like the Russian family from Justice League if they had even more screen time.

Halloween Ends 2022
This was fun. I genuinely had no clue what was going to happen next, which is super rare for one of these franchise slashers. Is it kind of dumb? Yeah, sure, but I really respect them for being willing to do something different.

Coraline 2009
I never really cared for stop motion growing up, but this is one of the most visually interesting movies I’ve seen in a long time. I had to look up set photos just to convince myself that it wasn’t CGI.
I’m also in the middle of my Disney marathon right now, so it’s interesting how much more this feels like a Ghibli movie than an American one. It’s literally just a little girl being miserable and getting progressively more miserable…
