No words can express how much fun I had with this piece of art. First of all, I didn’t watch any trailers for it. I only watched a small teaser with no spoilers that came up to me as an ad, and that’s the approach everyone should take when going into this movie. At first glance, it may look like a cliché horror film, but it turns out to be a bit more complex than that. Honestly, I hated all the jump scares and horror tropes the movie relied on, but even so, Sydney Sweeney and Álvaro Morte delivered great performances, and the lore twist at the end was pretty captivating. In a nutshell: a good movie, but it could have been better. Also, it’s super short.

Oh, Happy Death Day: what a fun, fun movie! This film, though simple, perfectly captures what the horror-comedy genre should feel like. I could sum it up as a lighthearted, popcorn flick made to entertain you in its short runtime, but I truly feel like it was something more. Great pacing, great emotional moments, a great protagonist, and a great antagonist. In a nutshell, it was one of the funniest experiences I’ve had watching a movie. You don’t have to think, just enjoy the ride!

Despite most critics of this movie also being critics of musicals, that’s not entirely true for me. I don’t necessarily love musicals, but I understand there are cases where they can work, like in Wicked or La La Land. However, Emilia Perez shouldn’t have been made as a musical, or as a movie at all. The theme of this movie is not something to joke about, and singing feels like making a mockery of all the lives that have been…
