The hypocrisy of the United States of America and the American Dream is a tale as old as time, no matter whose POV you tell it from. Yet, I fear The Brutalist's dedication to ambiguity in the hopes of encouraging nuanced interpretation comes at completely the wrong time in our present geopolitical circumstances and risks emboldening one's own search for confirmation bias.
Beautiful visuals, captivating score, but doesn't have the bravery to stand for what it's saying between the lines.
