The Last Showgirl 2024
A very sad but beautifully shot film that is solidly acted. Yet, I can't oversee the fact that the film suffers from a certain lack of focus and doesn't seem to find its footing in the structure.
For what it's worth, I still enjoyed the experience of this very loose and somewhat aimless film, paretically because the element of aimlessness was crucial to the characters, story and plot.

This is a very fascinating and tragic film.
It serves as a perfect example for what happens when a director (when an entire nation!) is so deeply hurt, frustrated and scarred but doesn't know how to properly release all these emotions and then just implodes and explodes at the same time. German film has to face many clichés and is faced with criticism of bad writing, bland storytelling, awful acting, ever-repeating plots and the fear of not taking risks. And very rightfully so.
But, every now and then, there's a small diament hidden in the filth.
