It's been a long time since I've seen a Wes Anderson film. I still haven't seen all of his work. My favourite of those I have seen is The Life Aquatic.

As to be expected there's a few of Anderson's regular stable of actors, voice-only this time however. More of the same warm, muted colour palette, offbeat characters and quirky dialogue. Beyond the Black Rainbow

A ponderous arthouse film with the production style of '80s cinema. Some other visual influences are obvious, such as THX-1138 and 2001: A Space Odyssey. However, of the no doubt countless others, I'd bet that R. W. Fassbinder's 'World on a Wire' is certainly one of them.

Don't watch this expecting to see a solid, logical narrative. In fact, I think the film might have benefitted from either scaling the story back or fleshing it out more. Instead, go for the hypnotic visual treat with its dreamlike atmosphere and spot-on synth score.
