I'm a fan of this kind of science fiction, so I had a lot of this one. I do feel like it could have explored some of its concepts a little more, but I understand that they only had so much time. The performances are all really fun, and the non-linear storytelling reminded me of the China Mieville novel Embassytown, and anything that reminds me of Embassytown is pretty solid.

There's two scenes in this film that have been heavily referenced and parodied, but once you see them, they're just as gripping as ever. I also like how it's not overly reliant on action, and how it's more about the dramatic tension and the thrill of the chase. I understand that this film isn't for everyone, but I feel like everyone should give it a shot. It is, at the same time, a serious exploration of existential ideas, and a ridiculous screwball comedy. I love every character and performance in this film, I love the unconventional structure, Jason Schwartzman was born to play Albert Markovsky, this is one of the few films to put Mark Whalberg's weirdness to good use, I love Jon Brion's score, there's many quotable lines, it doesn't shy away from dark topics, and it's so satisfying seeing all of the pieces fit together in the end.
