Masterful. My favorite rewatch movie of all time. Can’t give it 5 off the sheer principle of not being able to settle with the idea of a white man writing a slave vengeance story. At least his cameo was a bit more tamed than usual

I’ve never seen this version or the original. A little long winded, but a charming movie nonetheless. The beauty and the beast aspect of this plot shows that story is versatile and timeless. Also, there was a bit of novelty misdirection that gave the movie a bit of dimension.
I watched this with my girlfriend for the first time. I give it three stars to remain delicate to the nostalgic factor/ time period it was released in. Overall, a fun family movie, especially for the season.
