    Evil Dead II

    ★★★★

Evil Dead II maniacally steps on your neck about 5 minutes in and just presses harder and harder for 80 minutes straight. Some real kooky goofs. Some spooky little gags. Crazy, creative, crude, crusty, crafty camp. This Raimi guy is a seriously daffy, cuckoo old codger!

Pinocchio a little freak tho for real. We got just the tiniest glimpse into his deviant ways, but I assure you it’s just the tip of a VERY large, dirty little sexy secret iceberg. Interested? I thought so. Follow my blog for all the juicy, sordid details.

I don’t know how Bong manages to infuse humor so naturally into even his bleakest films. Love that dude.

    Blazing Saddles

    ★★★

Blazing Saddles holds up considerably better than other “classic comedies” I’ve seen in recent years. Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder have great chemistry and plenty of the gags are still solid. Admittedly I’m a sucker for fourth wall humor.

That being said, there are still long stretches where none of the jokes land for me and it gets boring. Basically the film was just okay. Regardless, I’m glad a pure comedy from the ‘70s won me over, even a little; I was starting to lose hope…

  • Kill Bill: Vol. 2

    Kill Bill: Vol. 2

    ★★★½

Like Kill Bill 1, but 2!

Honestly more of the same. It was fun! The camp often felt out of place, and the grandiose action of the first one overshadows the action here, but I still had a good time. It also felt like an effort to add some substance was made halfway through the story and it fell a little flat. I’m glad something was done to slightly alter the trajectory of plot, but I can’t help but feel this could’ve been much more.
