The film focusses, quite adeptly on some of the darker parts of human nature. To end with a happy ending slightly soured that message for me & detracted from the overall impact.
I realise this is based on a book which I haven’t read, so reviewing with that in mind.
An absolutely dire film from start to finish. We watched until the end for a big reveal as we were clearly missing something.
Instead of Amelie being charming, she was weird, creepy and irritating to watch with her relentless stalker behaviour.
Nino being charmed by her unhinged antics and not as utterly frustrated as we were as viewers was equally baffling.
Also acted completely out of proportion trying to completely ruin the life of the guy who ran the grocery stall & bullied his apprentice.
Save yourself two hours.
