If you exclude a majority of the “Planet Earth” montages and Sean Penn scenes, you might get a pretty good movie. Cinematography = wonderful.

The Wailing 2016
A decent slow burn horror/thriller. Kind of like a “whodunit” but for evil spirits, demons, ghosts (all of the above?). Unfortunately the narrative is a bit sloppy and disjointed.

Eighth Grade 2018
I was fortunate enough to watch a screening of the movie with Bo Burnham, the director/writer, and some of the cast present at the theater.
Burnham tells an extremely funny, emotional, and authentic story of a young girl who struggles with social anxiety and low self-esteem while in the eighth grade. The film explores various subject matters such as social media, school shootings, and male predatory behaviours, all of which kids are exposed to at a very early age.
