    Nausicaa of the Planet of the Ice. Way too much going on so nothing landed super strong but overall still technically really good and propulsive enough that I had a good time.

    Feels like a modern version of a 70s scifi. Fun sets and performances, little vignettey, goofy tech, and mild ideas about society or philosophy.

    Inevitable Ruffalo's character will be compared to Trump but gotta imagine this was influenced more by Yoon Suk Yeol and his predecessors.

    Really beautiful and paced in a way that builds on that. There's so much happening in this movie but watching it after reading The Moving City had me really focusing on the use of public and private space, especially in trains. These alternate a place of comfort, privacy, isolation, displacement. Just one little aspect of the complexities of working class womanhood that are explored. Left the theater very emotional

    So worth seeing in a theater with people, especially the last 30 mins. Tonally and stylistically dialed in so well. The use of practical effects fits the athletic perfectly and looks incredible. Initially thought the >2 hour running was going to cause it to drag but the continued escalation and commitment to the bit justified it as the end crescendos into something transcendent.

    Reflecting the demands of the external gaze into self inflicted body horror is a really cool take.…
