Funny story: I wasn’t planning on seeing Black Bag. I was going to watch the new Looney Tunes movie, but they couldn’t get the projection to work, so I ended up watching Black Bag by coincidence.

Going in, I thought the premise would set this up to be a poignant & emotional piece on growing older, self-acceptance, & relationships. But the story didn’t really touch me at all & I didn’t enjoy the characters or their relationships. Also a little too much exposed body parts for me.

Mikey Madison. What can I say? I would go to war…

I’m not sure if there’s a director working in anime today who is more in tune with & can adeptly portray the depth & complexity of human emotion. Simply speaking, Naoko Yamada is a master at her…
