So glad I went in blind to this dark and twisty game of cat and mouse. Subverts all expectations with non-linear storytelling — Tarantino fans will dig this. Cinematography goes hard and I’m an absolute sucker for anything filmed in Oregon, particularly horror/thrillers. Willa Fitzgerald’s performance is next level, and the final shot of her is truly haunting.

Turn-offs: misogynist undertones and a sprinkle of copaganda. Also, why give the “dramatization of a true story” disclaimer when it’s not actually pulled from real-life events? We don’t need a story to be based in reality to properly enjoy it.

Oof. Whoever’s behind the awards campaign is either a mastermind or a nepo baby, because this is a train-wreck. I haven’t heard anything favorable about Emilia Pérez beyond the marketing, but decided to find out for myself given all the buzz. Why is this a musical and how is all the music that bad? Superficial depictions of the trans experience and Mexican culture. Impressively dull for all it tries to accomplish. Still love you tho, Zoe Saldaña.

Didn’t think I’d audibly sob in the theater when I bought a ticket to see a movie called My Old Ass and didn’t think I’d fall in love with a literal Chad either. Both Elliotts have valuable lessons to impart to the other around the importance of cherishing what you have and seizing every moment, a welcome reminder of all we can learn from every version of ourselves. Aubrey Plaza makes a big impact with surprisingly little screen-time. Maisy Stella and Percy Hynes White are definitely ones to watch. Funny, tender, authentic coming of age goodness (my fave) with a can’t be missed bit for the Beliebers.

Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne invented acting. Give this brilliant casting director a raise. Unfolds like a stage play (love) and Sam Levy’s cinematography is captivating as always. I’m devastated, gotta go call my sisters now 😭
