  Grand Theft Hamlet 2024

  I accidentally made a killer double bill between this and Sing Sing. Both films about people playing Hamlet who never thought they would in the most bizarre and brilliant way possible. Both saying something about how art can heal us and bring us together in the best and worst of times.

  This Jesse Eisenberg kid really has something about him. Think he's gonna be big. (As a director)
  I both loved and hated (in a good way) every second of this. Pure hyper focus on such an intresting relationship. Two tiny, insignificant, characters carrying their own personal insignificant traumas in the setting of humanity's most significant, most awful traumas. Yet it is so much fun. What more can we ask for from cinema.

  I heavily regret not being shown this as a child.
  It is a perfectly constructed action/kung-fu movie. The humour is not as immature as I had imagined and some dialogue is extremely profound and moving.
  I'm cautious about watching the sequels.
