Rich historical context here. Such an interesting snippet of time. Baldwin as rebellious as he always was. But with the added context of having just lost so many friends/black leaders to the assassinations of the 60s; not knowing what or who could be next.
This film reflects the frustration of black folk freshly following those tragic events. So, being told by these white filmmakers to essentially keep the focus of your commentary on your literary works and not so much…
LOVED the concept of this film, but respectfully, this was the worst lighting I’ve ever seen in a movie. Pretty sure the whole second half of this was shot at night with zero lighting, so you can’t see a got damn thing.
side note: A remake would be super fun 🤩
