Funny Face 1957
Cast anyone other than Fred Astaire as Avery and the whole thing would fall apart like a poorly-constructed souffle. I find my affection for this movie--the cast! the cinematography! Paris, shining in my ever so American imagination like the green light at the end of Daisy's dock!--in conflict with my dislike for the music and a nagging feeling that the central romance only really works because of Astaire and Hepburn's chemistry.
