Come and See 1985
I was totally stunned for a long time after this movie. It was one of those experiences where you realize, only after the credits, that you’ve been tensing your body for hours. Thinking back on the movie, I still feel that tension.
My partner asked me afterwards which image stood out to me the most. For me it was absolutely the stork that appears in the woods after Florya and Glasha are separated from the rest of the Resistance fighters. …

i’ve seen a lot of reviews labeling this movie as simple in the end or more shallow than it pretends to be, and i couldn’t disagree more. i see it as dfw says in “this is water” as “the truth with a bunch of rhetorical bullshit pared away.”
this is a movie about putting a baby’s brain inside a grown woman’s body and watching what happens. therefore it needs to be somewhat analyzed…
