Really fun premise and clever dialogue. Hugh Grant was clearly having a blast and all of the performances were utterly committed. I really appreciated the way the film eases into the tension, the way that it takes so long to unfurl and how Hugh keeps up his pretense for such a long part of the runtime while still keeping so much unease.

Give me more movies with Themed Goons. I can't help but compare this film to Escape from New York every time I watch it and it does suffer somewhat by that comparison, but I also just love that movie way more than almost anyone else seems to. The Warriors is still just pure fun, and it's always great to watch something relatively schlocky made by a director with a great eye for strong visuals and colorful worldbuilding.

The whole thing strikes such a great balance between unsettling horror and…

Really HUGE film. A Great American Novel of a film. One with deep themes of the exploitation of both immigrants and artists by capitalism, and I imagine layers of metaphor exploring that throughout different situations in the film that I imagine go way deeper and more consistently than I could possibly catch on a first viewing.

All of the acting was amazing. Adrien Brody, Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones were all incredible. Appreciated the amount of offscreen storytelling in the…
