Nosferatu 2024
This film proves again what I find so consistently enjoyable about Eggers’ work.
His understanding of history allows him to present characters and worlds in a way that many of his peers either can’t or don’t. For all of Nosferatu’s theatrics Eggers brings a level of nuance that really transports you and is itself enjoyable to pick apart.
I really love how this film works in contrast to Copolla’s Dracula, reshaping everything human and romantic about the count into something really demonic and horrifying.
Also fucking shout out the moustache, I really liked that.
