The relationships shown in the film are very two dimensional and lack any sort of connection between them.
Art states that “how could anyone not love you” to tashi and yet no where in the film is it depicted that anyone really is in love with her. Patrick lusts for her and sees himself as her socially intellectual peer. Tashi claims to detest that but gives into every advance he makes rather easily.
