I haven’t been thrown off by a twist like Iris being a robot in a while. Reminded me of Barbarian. Glad I went in knowing nothing other than companions movie poster and that it has been a movie I’ve heard mentioned often since its release.
Robert Pattinson as multiple versions of Mickey was so satisfying to watch. Obviously from the rating I gave Mickey 17, I enjoyed the movie. I never was uninterested in the story and thought it looked great. I think most characters were really well done except for Mark Ruffalo (the writing, not his acting which was well done). This is the first fast movie I’ve ever seen and honestly it scratches the itch I have for early 2000s action movies. I have seen scenes of newer movies in the franchise which makes me appreciate how down to earth with its action this movie was. No need for explosives attached to cars, spinning, hooking on to chains, etc.
At the end of the movie Zsofia says that “it’s the destination, not the journey.”
In the case of this movie I disagree. The journey was so much better than the destination. The storyline of the first half before intermission was so straight forward but was done in a way that kept my friends and I all captivated. The second half falls apart and just seems to throw in too many working parts and time jumps. Fast forwarding to 1980…
